    old director

    ddshore
      hi,
i have an old director movie CD for mac, however i cannot run the projector anymore under mac os x. I do not have the original file, only the executables, how can i upgrade this so it'll run under mac os x?

I think you are going to need the original files. You'd probably need
to publish the file in a newer version of Director, and publish it as an
          OSX projector.

i think this was done with a stub projector. so maybe if i can get a new stub projector for mac osx it'll work?
is there any place to get this?

It will depend on how old the actual movie is. I assume that your stub
calls a dcr. That is how they usually work. If the dcr is very old,
then some of the commands may not work with a new stub. It will take
some experimentation on your side. In order to make a new stub, you
will need a recent version of Director (any version that has the
capability to make OSX projectors). I think Director MX (9) or MX 2004
              (10) should do. Then make a simple movie with lingo commands like this:

on the 1st frame put a behaviour like this:

              on exitFrame me
              go movie "movieName"
              end

You owuld of course replace the word "movieName" with the name of your
actual dcr movie. If you are using Director MX 2004, then you may need
to add this line to make it backwards compatible with some of the older
              Lingo constructs:

              on exitFrame me
              the scriptExecutionStyle=9
              go movie "movieName"
              end

Publish that as an OSX projector and cross your fingers.

                Hi ddshore,

You could download the trial version of Director, make a new stub and see how that goes. Here's a tutorial on
                creating stub projectors.
