Work through all of the steps (ideas) listed at http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
If your problem isn't fixed after you follow all of the steps, report back with the DETAILS asked for in the questions at the
end of the troubleshooting link
Once you have GSPOT (read all the way through the troubleshooting link above) and know the codec inside the file, you may find a converter
I have NOT used those products, I only forward due to other mentions

Its a HD 1080 dimension
what's the width? Depending on the width, you'll have choices between P2 Movie or MPEG2 formats. then you gotta either choose a preset that matches the dimensions of your footage or do a custom setting. Then in premier, select a sequence setting that best matches.
From Clip Browser copy everything from the SxS (or KxS) cards to your hard disk. In PR select a XDCAM-EX preset and then import the complete BPAV directory. Disregard the error messages (skip then all) about files not supported. That's all.
Does it playback in real time Harm? I've keep getting stupid yello or red bars when using mp4.
Dropping a XDCAM-EX clip with 1280 x 720 resolution in a HDV sequence gives me a red line but plays back in RT.
Dropping a XDCAM-EX clip with 1920 x 1080 resolution in a HDV sequence gives me a yellow line but also plays back in RT.
Dropping a XDCAM-EX clip with 1920 x 1080 resolution in a XDCAM-EX sequence gives me no line and plays back in RT.
well obviously XDCAM-EX in an XDCAM-EX timeline would work! Are you making fun of me Harm?
No, just complete in giving you three different situations.
