I believe that you need to re-define your site in your Dreamweaver 8 by pointing to the existing site(s) you have worked on your hard drive.
Thx for the answer. I'm able to work on the sites on my hard drive, I can update and preview in browser, etc, and they all seem to be linked properly with all images in the preview. It's only when I try to connect to my remote site host to publish pages that I have the error. The full message is "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. The remote host cannot be found."

Thanks for the suggestions....I've learned that turning off Norton "internet security" does allow me to find the any of my hosts.
Now I'll have to figure how to allow Dreamweaver to get thru the firewall, or I'll just forever have to turn off Norton when I need to post. But that's a Norton issue I suspect...not Dreamweaver.
