I have files that were worked in CS3 and they are in a .mpg file. I am using Windows 7. The CS4 trial vewrsion will not import this file. Does anyone know if full version will solve my problem. If not, any suggestions to convert. AVI conversions looked like they were playing at 5x speed for video but audio was fine
The trial version does not support anything MPEG.

It shows the deficiency of Adobe's website to hide that info in the FAQ section, instead of in plain sight.
What KIND of avi conversion did you do... in other words, what CODEC did you use for the conversion?
Since avi is only a "wrapper" that may contain many different codec files, you should know that anything other than DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound is likely not going to edit well in Premiere
