I had Adobe Reader Installed and it worked fine. Then an update failed and Reader disappeared. I tried to download it and reinstall it, but it gives me a message that it doesn't have enough permission to access Activex file, and asks me to log in as adminstrator. I'm already logged in as administrator. I tried to uninstall all Adobe Files and then reinstall, but it only deleted some files and not all, due , again, to permissions problems. I tried altering folder permissions, but nothing helps. So now, I have some pieces of Adobe files, and can't download and install. Where do I go from here? Please help.
Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove all registry entries for Reader, then re-install.
I can't believe it! That did it!
I didn't even know there was such an Installer Cleanup tool. What I had was a mess, and this cleaned it up; now Adobe Reader works.
Thank you very much for the rapid and notably effective response!
