1. Re: rasterizing smart objects, 3 methods?
c.pfaffenbichler Mar 24, 2010 3:00 AM (in response to Christian Davideck)I personally see no problem in the multiple locations:
For the Rasterize-menu-item to display which kind of layer one is dealing with seems no bad idea.
And the Smart Object-menu-item not offering the option would seem strange.
But the result would indeed appear to be the same.
Anyway You could always turn them off under Edit – Menus.

D Fosse-QDEaQ1 Mar 24, 2010 3:14 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Keep in mind that people will look for tools and options from very different workflows. The main thing is that they should be easy to find no matter what direction you come from.
To some "Smart Objects" is a natural place to look because that's what they're working with.
To others "Rasterize" will be logical because that's what they want to do.
It's all about ergonomics of the brain.
Edit: "in response to" is obviously OP, not cp...

3. Re: rasterizing smart objects, 3 methods?
Christian Davideck Mar 24, 2010 3:23 AM (in response to D Fosse-QDEaQ1)I agree with both of you. Although the same set of arguments would justify duplicating and triplicating almost any menu item and imagine the mess you get once you start in this vein. I just hope this kind of thinking won't get out of hand in future versions.

c.pfaffenbichler Mar 24, 2010 3:35 AM (in response to Christian Davideck)Well, the number of menu-items in Photoshop is probably less important the more experienced one gets with the program, because one can Shortcut the more frequent tasks anyway and with Configurator one can collect the most-frequently-needed menu items into Panels.
Plus Color Coding menu-items can be helpful.

D Fosse-QDEaQ1 Mar 24, 2010 4:51 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Color coding is a hidden gem.
Even if you customize your menus, and even if you use shortcuts extensively, there are still commands that you reach for all the time. Paint them red.
