just about every time you have a stop() in a frame, the playhead will stop there.

am not using any action script. I
have no stop() commands in the file.
Any other thoughts?
Can you show a screenshot of your timeline and any other relevant on-screen content?
in the test environment, click view and tick bandwidth profiler and streaming graph. are you moving past frame 1 of your main timeline?
Thank you for all the input. I think I may have stumbled onto the the problem. For some reason, if I use a merge object for my mask object everything works fine. I was using multiple drawing objects for the mask. Apparently that's not allowed.
