I shot a test using a Canon EOS 7D, just one 20-second shot. I can import it into Premiere Pro CS4 without any problem on my desktop computer (Windows XP), but on my laptop (Windows 7 64-bit), I cannot 'see' the file in Premiere. It doesn't show up in any directory, whether I save the file on the desktop, or in another drive or folder, it's 'invisible' in Premiere, though it plays back fine in, say, Windows Media Player.
I don't get it!
You have a CODEC installed on one computer and not the other
Search the forum for a link to GSPOT to find out the codec you need to install
Gspot tells me the codec is avc1. I installed ffdshow, which I understood contained that codec, but the problem remains. (it's odd, since I didn't go to any effort to install a special codec on my desktop).
Can anyone tell me how to get that avc1 onto my laptop reliably?
Thanks for the info about 7D material. I'm investigating. It would seem that Cineform Neoscene is the way to go. Correct?
