I like that Dreamweaver has 'built in' validation but... I have a page that validates with W3C Validation AOK yet the same page has 'issues' with Dreamweaver - namely, it doesn't like my anchor points! I am using Dreamweaver (CS4) - this is a typical error message I receive:
in tag: a the following required attributes are missing: href[HTML 4.0]
A typical anchor point, unless something has changed and I don't know about it, is simply <a name="apoint"></a> yet Dreamweaver doesn't like this. What do I need to do to get this resolved?
And, when I view pages in Firefox, Opera and Safari the links work just fine but not in IE 6.x...
Thanks for any suggestions!
The W3C validator is the only one you should trust. Furthermore, you'll ensure you are checking against latest standards. There are some errors in the Dreamweaver one, specially when you use Library items.
Thanks! I kind of figured the W3C validation was correct but got confused when Dreamweaver validated differently
I am glad to know nothing has changed and I was asleep at the wheel!!
