Check +C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\+. Delete/ Move the folder to some otehr location and have AI re-create all user settings. If that doesn't help, you may have a permissions problem somewhere
that is helpful but confusing to me. I guess I'd need more info on how to complete that task
...i.e. where to type in the address, and the other place to move folder.

This often works but of course not aways and if you have to d this often then there are other issues.
You cannot believe how helpful this was. Once I was able to figure out how to put your address into my computer correctly it totally fixed the problem. I was trying for HOURS to fix this and I have a deadline to meet. I uninstalled and re-installed ADOBE completely and all I needed to do was read this message board. You have really made my day.
