Do you have a page that you could show us?
I don't think the white border is in the image, is it?
You might just need to set the padding and margin to zero
JPEG files do not save transparency. GIF and PNG formats do, however, GIF is limited by the number of colors you can save with. Your best bet for creating transparent images would be to use the PNG format. This should all be done in Photoshop. I'm not sure what you are trying to avoid with Photoshop, but that is the best way to take any graphic file and save it for the web without losing quality.
Thank you very much. I was just worried that i had to photoshop away the background and did'nt know how that would turn out, but png worked fine.
