No p video? No 5D or 7D video?
I would think that (the above) also "resembles actual editing scenarios".
You are correct, but there is a practical limitation. The project file including the media files must still be manageable for download. A 1 minute timeline (which can be duplicated in the project to give it more realistic sizes) is already around 250 MB, add the project file and it still has to be rather small to not deter people from doing the test.
If you want to submit 5D or 7D material, yes please, I would like to include that as well, but again I don't have it.
For benchmarking purposes I don't see the value added of p material. Sure, p material is often used, but it does not add any significant results to a benchmark.
I could shoot something for you in AVCHD from the Panasonic HMC-150 if you want. If you want me to just let me know and I would be more than happy to help out...
If you have a clip you want to submit for inclusion in the new CS5 benchmark in 29.97i format with AVCHD, HDV, XDCAM-EX or P2, please send me a PM, indicating what format you want to submit. I'll give you my private e-mail adress to send it to.
I have applauded Bill more than once for earlier versions of his very practical tool; why guess when you can get data on system performance. I still believe that Adobe should hire both of you to make this an official tool. But no matter, as long as it is available. (Add clapping hands emoticon that I am too lazy to look up plus that cool Harm one of the beer steins.)
