    Still freezing

    screenshaper Level 1

Adobe Premiere 8 freezes every time and I haven't even been able to do  one full 3-minute video edit.  I attempted to download the most recent Nvidia driver but received an error message from my new ASUS Gamer computer with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260m driver: "The NVIDIA" Setup program could not loacte any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware..."  I also downloaded the updated AP to 8.0.1 so I should be all okay.  I also attempted to switch the .dll drivers (6 of them) but all that did was cause the program to tell me to completely re-install the program again.... Many thanks.

If your computer is not able to install the latest nVidia driver from the Web-site, then something seems very wrong.

Can you furnish more details? This ARTICLE will give you tips on the types of info, that would be very useful.

          Good luck,

Well, that is a start. With a laptop (especially with a laptop), THIS would be my starting point.

Also, please tell us all about your I/O sub-system. The types of info are in that first article, that I linked to. That can be very important.

              Good luck,

You have the latest driver installed.

When I searched around for the driver for your 64-bit machine, I found that there is a BIOS upgrade for certain systems (Dell) that is a MUST before this driver is installed. Is something like that available for ASUS PC also? I was not able to check any support information for G71GX specifically. You can call them and check if there is any suggested upgrade available.

Also rolling back to a previous version could help. Latest does not necessarily mean greatest, at least in Graphics drivers world. You could check for previous versions in nVidia site...
