Problem Installing Adobe Reader 9 on Windows XP

I have Windows XP Home and have been trying to install Reader 9

I have tried on both I.E.8 and Firefox and keep getting this message:

Error 1402. Could not open key.

Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or

      contact your support personnel.

      Can anyone help?

          Do the following solutions:

Solution 1: Remove all previous versions of  Acrobat or Raeder, and then reinstall.

          1. Choose Start > Control Panel (Windows XP) or Start  > Settings > Control Panel (Windows 2000).
          2. Double-click Add Or Remove Programs.
          3. Select Adobe Acrobat or Reader[version] and click Remove.
          4. When prompted, confirm that you want to remove Acrobat or Reader.
          5. Repeat the above procedure for all installed versions of Acrobat or Reader.
          6. Restart the computer, and then reinstall Acrobat or Reader.
