How do I save Export settings?

    Marigold_the_2nd
Every time I go to export an image using Export Preview, I have to select one of the presets from the drop-down list. How do I set it so that one of them is already set?

The same applies when I Export without previewing - it selects the image setting with the highest file size which is not what iI want.

Adjust your setting in the Optimize panel and them click on the panel
options icon (upper right) and choose Save Settings.

Thanks Jim, but I'm trying to get the Saved Settings box to be automatically populated with my setting. At the moment, it's blank and I have to pick a setting from the pull-down list each time I export an image.

I believe the issue is that FW reads the most recent settings for the
file you're opening and if it can't find any, defaults to the "factory
              settings"

Have you thought about doing a batch process, based on your saved settings?

Yes, Batch processing is excellent - but it doesn't help me with this problem.

How do I make Fireworks create a default setting in the settings Pull-down list? Adobe, please help.

This is a user to user forum, Marigold. Open the Optimize panel menu by
clicking on the wavy lines icon at the top right of the panel title bar.
                  Choose "Save Settings."

Thank you for your help Linda. I've done exactly what you suggest and it works fine on one image. But as soon as that image is closed and another one is opened, the saved setting disappears and the Settings box is not populated again.

When I click on the pull-down list, the 'Export Defaults' line is ticked, but it is greyed-out.
