    Old school question

    tonynoriega
      So this just started happening today while i was working on some file fro a site i am developing.

      Got the error:

      "While executing DW_DesignView command in toolbars.xml the following javascript errors occured: exception throw in native function"

      That happened, i click OK, and it shut down DW.

      I can reopen DW just fine, i can access my other sites just fine, i can navigate from code view to design view just fine, i can upload files to my other sites just fine.....

      It seems to be this one site that is doing it....

      I tried removing the site, and recreating it. And when i access the files now, they automatically open up in Code view, and when i try to view them in design view, it pauses, then shuts down DW. no errors, just shuts down.

      Tried creating a site with a different name, and GET'ing all the files from the remote server, as i thought it was a local file that was causing the problem, and same thing....cant switch to design view.

      If i keep the site in Code view...i can upload with Ctrl + Shif + U just fine....but Design mode just shuts the whole damn thing down...

      I googled that error and came up with just about nothing...

      Anyone???

            have a look here and follow their troubleshooting steps to see if you can solve the problem: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19105&sliceId=2

            p.s. Adobe.com Support section is also a good place to search when you have a problem with an Adobe/Macromedia product.

              Wow, that sucks. Please let us know the answer when you find the
              solution, which I hope is immediately.

              What version of DW and what OS please?

                  Ok, so i check the script errors according to N H C's link and i followed one of the steps to do a "recreate site cache"

                  I closed DW, opened DW and was actually able to switch from code to design view in one of my files....which is a basic HTML page with an image map, with some <a href> area map links....that worked fine...

                  i tried to access any other pages, and BLAM....shut down.

                  I do have one .xml page within my site for a flash image gallery, BUT it was working fine for the past two days.... no problems what so ever....

                  here is the xml file if anyone sees anything that might flag an error:

                  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
                  <images>
                  <pic>
                  <image>gallery/1.jpg</image>
                  <thumbnail>gallery/s1.jpg</thumbnail>
                  <caption>Welcome to Sonata!</caption>
                  </pic>
                  <pic>
                  <image>gallery/2.jpg</image>
                  <thumbnail>gallery/s2.jpg</thumbnail>
                  <caption>A community unlike any other.</caption>
                  </pic>
                  <pic>
                  <image>gallery/3.jpg</image>
                  <thumbnail>gallery/s3.jpg</thumbnail>
                  <caption>Beautiful tree lined streets</caption>
                  </pic>
                  <pic>
                  <image>gallery/4.jpg</image>
                  <thumbnail>gallery/s4.jpg</thumbnail>
                  <caption>Great community park.</caption>
                  </pic>
                  <pic>
                  <image>gallery/5.jpg</image>
                  <thumbnail>gallery/s5.jpg</thumbnail>
                  <caption>Gorgeous landscaping and fencing.</caption>
                  </pic>

                  </images>

                  Again, i also have a .php page that submits data to a mysql database, but again, i have used this file on several other sites, that works just fine....

                  the site on my web hosts server work just fine, so i know its not some weird code issue...

                  this sucks... i have a feeling it has to do with the PHP code i have in my contact_us.php page... i dont know why, but i think i remember the error happening after i altered that page....

                  and once more...i have used this page several times...

                  yours truly....

                  xoxoxox..

                  *crying on the inside*

                    Have you tried deleting (or moving to a safe place) that file that
                    screws up sometimes?

                    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application
                    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\panelset.xml
