1. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
Jeff Bellune Apr 2, 2010 6:56 AM (in response to computerskillme)Was the original asset a dynamically-linked sequence from Pr? If so, then select the linked sequence in En and do File | Revert to Original. The asset will update.

Bill Hunt Apr 2, 2010 8:24 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Jeff,
If the Sequence is not Imported into Encore via ADL, won't cleaning the Media Cache (since Project has been Transcoded already), and then Revert to Original also work, or am I missing something important?
TIA,

3. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
Jeff Bellune Apr 2, 2010 8:36 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)It should. But I'm assuming DL here since we know that no editor/DVD
author would modify their assets outside of Encore without proper
versioning of those assets, lest they encounter un-fixable PGC errors.

Bill Hunt Apr 2, 2010 8:42 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Good point, and thanks for the clarification.

PS - are you back home now? Good trip?

Jeff Bellune Apr 2, 2010 8:50 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)I'm back home - for a little while at least. It was a good trip. I got to mix business with visits to friends, "which is nice". Goonga-galoonga.

6. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
computerskillme Apr 3, 2010 6:00 AM (in response to computerskillme)Awesome, thanks for the advice. Yes, I did the ADL. I decided to add the trailer as well...making sure that everything is spelled correctly!
I have 'reverted to original' the Premiere Project Sequence, so now it says Untranscoded. Now I notice my timeline is not the same length as the project. Do I delete the old timeline and make a new one? I don't mind redoing all the links to the menus.
Or will that old timeline be updated when I transcode?
I hope that I can get it to transcode. I tried transcoding last night for a different video and it always stops when transcoding audio and gives me the "unable to create image buffer." I swear, I've never had so many problems with an editing software.

7. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
Jeff Bellune Apr 3, 2010 7:43 AM (in response to computerskillme)Is the updated Pr sequence now longer than the old sequence that's in the En timeline? If so, then drag the end of the clip in the En timeline out to its new length. If the chapter markers have changed, right-click the clip in the En timeline and choose Update Markers...
For your other problem, unable to create image buffer is usually an out-of-memory problem. It may be related to fragmented memory (like fragmented files on a hard drive), or it may be that other stuff is taking up too much memory and En doesn't have what it needs available. Try this: Save your project and go to Edit | Preferences | Media and clean the database; then close and re-open En. Try transcoding again with other apps and background processes shut down. Reboot the computer if necessary.

8. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
computerskillme Apr 3, 2010 11:01 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Thanks, Jeff! That solved that issue about "refreshing" the video so that the current on is there, but I'm still having trouble transcoding. I right-click on the project sequence so that I can now transcode it, but when I click on the project, right-click it, the top four things are grayed out. It won't let me click on 'transcode now.'
Any advice?

If you indeed meant "project", then you need to stick to right-clicking the sequence/asset. You can't "transcode now" an entire project. That's what the Build panel is for.

10. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
computerskillme Apr 3, 2010 2:03 PM (in response to Jeff Bellune)My software is very wierd. After closing and re-opening Encore, I can now click on 'transcode now.' BUT! I'm still getting the error "unable to create image buffer."
I have done the "Save your project and go to Edit | Preferences | Media and clean the database; then close and re-open En. Try transcoding again with other apps and background processes shut down. Reboot the computer if necessary."
but that doesn't seem to have helped.
I'm using Windows 7.

I'm not sure what other info is needed. I was hoping to have this one project done today so I could give it to the family, as they wanted to show their relatives after Easter dinner. It just drives me batty that I'm having so much trouble with this. The build checks out okay, but it just won't build the DVD because of that error.

11. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
Jeff Bellune Apr 3, 2010 2:13 PM (in response to computerskillme)Try building a disc image or a set of DVD folders instead of burning a
disc directly from En. If you successfully create a disc image, use the
excellent freeware program ImgBurn (imgburn.com) to burn the image to disc.
I just built a 1-hr project as a disc image on Win 7 64-bit with no
issues. Twice (because I had a chapter marker in the wrong place the
first time).

12. Re: need to edit credits in video, how to update that in Encore
computerskillme Apr 3, 2010 9:34 PM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Nope. I tried burning an image, and it crashes during transcoding.
I'm using CS4.
Anyone have any ideas? I really wished that Encore would work properly. This is causing me to loose business.
