Just use a knife and fork.
i haven't seen those commands since i was programming on my commadore 64. (they're not part of actionscript.)
The folks that make Flash take a very dim view of Flash being used to install viruses or spy/malware. Therefore the things it can do to interact with the local system is quite limited. The closest you might get is with the System.capabilities class, but that is also very limited and I think mostly (if not completely) read only.
I haven't used those either since the early 80s (Apple II). However whenever the number 222 comes up I always think "peek(222)." I couldn't remember what that was, but it seems to be the ONERR code.
Just want to thank you for your helpful comments, which were much better than some -
Peek and Poke? Admit it, you own a time machine don't you!
I can't help but feel that Macromedia missed out by not including equivalent peek/poke commands.
