This does happen sometimes with version 8.
Often updating Quicktime will fix it. Although you also don't say what operating system you're using or if it's the 32-bit or 64-bit version. That too can make a difference.
Thanks very much Steve. I did find a post from someone who suggested that
it was yet another bug in the software. I've re-installed PREL4 which has
it's problems but not quite so many, it seems to me, as V.8.
I'm more glad than ever that I bought your's and Chuck's book - Premiere
Elements 2 In a Snap - a couple of years back.
It has been of great assistance to me in learning and developing my
knowledge of PREL.
BTW in case your interested I'm in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
I'm using the 32 bit version and my operating system is Windows 7
Thanks for the kind words about the book, Bob -- and all the way from the other side of the world too!
In case you're interested, I've written a number of books on Premiere Elements since the version 2 book. You can order them from the Muvipix store. They are for versions 7 and 8 of the program though. Sorry we weren't able to put one together for version 4.
My latest book is in some ways an updated version of the In A Snap book, although the emphasis is on creating cool special effects with the program, step-by-step. You can learn about it here if you're interested.
And if the store sites and Amazon are unavailable in Australia, you can always write to me at steve at muvipix dot com and I'll arrange to ship a copy to you.
Thanks again Steve - I'll be sure to look into getting copies of some of
I am a member at the Muvipix site although I have not downloaded any of the
"goodies" from it for some time. I'll be sure to get onto that in the next
BTW, in reference to my original problem, I have replicated the Basic 3D
title in PREL4 and had no problems. I can't quite believe the problems I'm
having with version 8 of the software. You would think Adobe would have got
it right by now.
Quick question: are you using an external HDD in your workflow? I have read of similar happening, when one is editing to/from an external HDD, especially with USB connections. It has also happened when the Project was on an internal HDD, but had Assets located on a USB HDD.
Just curious, and good luck,
No Bill, not using external HDD although I do have them.
I have used them on previous projects and had no end of trouble.
Thanks for your suggestion.
OK Bob, scratch that idea.
Just thinking aloud here in "sunny" AZ, USA.
If I come up with any more questions, that might point us in the right direction, I'll add 'em.
