Impossible to update from ACR 5.4 on a Mac

      My configuration:

      Mac OS X 10.5.8

      PSE 6

      ACR 5.4

      Hi

I’ve been trying to install updates 5.5 through 5.7 since last and I get this message box:

“Welcome. Cannot install. Please click the Quit button.”

I wouldn’t consider this a “Welcome” message, with no explanation and no other option than getting lost.

I didn’t bother so far since it’s working fine as it is.
What would be the benefits anyway, besides being up to date?
BTW, is there an uninstall feature in case 5.7 is bugged?

Same here. I'm using Camera Raw 4.6 and thought I'd update but I get the "ACR not installed" message, "please click quit."

I'll just leave it alone. Like they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

If you are using ACR 4.6, then you are using CS3 and your issue has zero to do with the OP...useful if you don't confuse the issues...

First off, Elements is not officially supported in ACR 5.7 RC...

Since you have Mac and Elements 6, have you downloaded and followed the instructions found at: Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in for PSE?

Thanks for your quick reply, Jeff.

As a rule of thumb I do what I am told to do, at least as far as installing applications is concerned ;-), and it seldom fails. Actually my contribution consists only in clicking buttons so if it succeeds or fails is usually to the installer’s credit ;-)

I just downloaded Camera_Raw_5_6.dmg as you told me (see? I’m a good boy ;-)) and everything performed as breeze.

Actually the dmg files I had previously downloaded were:

              cameraraw5-5_rc_081909.dmg

              cameraraw5-6_r1_mac_111809.dmg

              cameraraw5-7_r1_mac_040510.dmg

              When opened, their content was

              extensions (folder)

              resources (folder)

              Setup.app

When launched, Setup.app opened a window called

Adobe Update Installer – Welcome with only the laconic message: “Welcome. Cannot install. Please click the Quit button.”

That’s quite different from the Camera_Raw_5_6.dmg, whose content is

              Camera Raw.plugin

              cameraprofiles.mpkg

which is a full fledge installer and that worked.

BTW, besides being up to date, what are the benefits of Camera Raw 5.7?

              Thanks for your help.

              Regard
