    Page Title text box grayed out

    fender1952

      I created my website using a template and 2 Spry menubars (which is coming along

      fine) but something just happened that I can not name each page according to what it's content is.  When I try to change the title, it just keeps reverting back to, I think, what is on the index template page.  Is this possible?  Is it something that I did wrong?  Can I correct it??  Help!! Can you post the code of your template here?  We would just need to see the head area of the template.

          Thanks!

            Yikes - I'm sorry but I am not sure what you want.  Should I copy all the code of the .dwt (template page)???

              Sure that will work.

                  Ok so the problem is that your title is not in an editable region.  You will need to create an editable region around your title, so that on individual pages that you want to have a title different than what you have in the template, you will be able to.

                  Do you know how to make editable regions?

                    I don't - not once it is an uneditable region. Will the fact that the 'Title' is a jpg be a problem?

                      That doesn't make any sense. A page title can only be text. You can't use a jpg.

                        I see this <title>Ranco Dental Equipment</title> in the code.  Where is that coming from?  The only place I have 'Ranco Dental Equipment' is in a jpg logo in the header. I can't think it is written anywhere else.  So, if I have to make the header editable then what's the point of learning and using a template???

                          Hi,

                          copy the whole source code, create a new file, go to the source code and replace all commands (STRG A or CTRL A) with a copy of your template. After that you can edit the line <title>Ranco Dental Equipment</title> as I did for example with <title>test</title>.

                          Hans-G.

                                  Hi ok,

                                  1. create a new file
                                  2. got to the source code, it looks like that:

                                       <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
                                       <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
                                       <head>
                                       <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
                                       <title>Unbenanntes Dokument</title>
                                       </head>

                                       <body>
                                       </body>
                                       </html>

                                  3. Select all this by using "STRG A" or "CTRL A".
                                  4. Delete the selected text from Nr. 2.
                                  5. Open your template file
                                  6. Select the complete source code this by using "STRG A" or "CTRL A".
                                  7. Copy all by using "STRG C" or "CTRL C"
                                  8. Insert the the entire text into the blank file.
                                  9. Now you can edit the line <title>Ranco Dental Equipment</title> into your ideas.

                                  10. Save your file with its/a new name..

                                  Hans-G.
