1. Re: Color of button changing
Stan Jones Apr 8, 2010 11:05 AM (in response to YTCollege)You can trick this by using multiple menus. The colors are not set from your image, but from the the color sets. And they are limited to 2 bit, indexed.
CS3 (find similar in CS4) help regarding creating subpictures in Photoshop (look for the information regarding what type of images/colors work):

and regarding color sets.

Thanks for the response. In other words, I cannot use the attached file as my button? I don't want to change the colors of this circle, I want to use it as my selected button. This circle would move up and down between menu items as the user is toggling between items. No highlights, just as it is. If I can use it, I am not finding it clear in the help files on how to do it. -
3. Re: Color of button changing
Stan Jones Apr 8, 2010 2:47 PM (in response to YTCollege)That's right, you can't use it in a single menu.
See this thread for the workaround (autoactive and multiple menus - even though this thread is regarding adding text, the concept it the same). This addresses the concept, a specific way to do it, and the problem that this works on TVs but not on computers.

4. Re: Color of button changing
Bill Hunt Apr 8, 2010 3:43 PM (in response to YTCollege)If it is just the color, that is the issue, you can alter that in Encore, with Color Sets. You can create custom Color Sets and also different levels of Transparency (think just the opposite of Opacity in PS). Unfortunately, the Menu Button Color Sets are not available in PS, but they are, once back in Encore.
Good luck,
Hunt

5. Re: Color of button changing
Bill Hunt Apr 8, 2010 3:55 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)To elaborate a bit, Dbl-click your Menu in Encore, to get it into the Menu Editing Panel, and choose Menu>Edit Color Set from the Toolbar. In the Color Set dropdown, choose anything but Automatic, like Menu Default. Then, look at your Highlight Groups, and alter the color that matches your Sub-picture Highlight Layer's setting. Click OK.
Good luck,
Hunt

6. Re: Color of button changing
Stan Jones Apr 8, 2010 5:32 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Bill, he's got 3 different colors on one circle that he's using as a highlight; not a single color circle.

7. Re: Color of button changing
YTCollege Apr 9, 2010 4:27 AM (in response to YTCollege)Thanks to you both. Although, both does seem work, I decided to go with the color sets
. It just seemed like it was easier.

8. Re: Color of button changing
Stan Jones Apr 9, 2010 5:13 AM (in response to YTCollege)I think that's the right call; the multicolor circle would be cool, but it's just not in the DVD spec.
