But XML is supposed to be case-sensitive...in XML, myproperty and myProperty1 are supposed to be completely different attributes. Do you really want to support using XML in a case-insensitve way? It's just wrong.

Absolutely. However, that doesn't stop, say, ant.
Well, it depends.
I need to parse HTML, created by users, so I don't have control over the casing of the nodes. BTW, I just converted all nodes to lowercase and that did the trick (of course left the content intact).

Fair enough. Though note that unless your users are creating valid XHTML, you can still run into problems with things like unclosed tags and illegal interleaving of closing tags.
I agree. I'm also creating a validator that address those types of issues.
