I have adobe premiere pro 2.0 and it takes forever to export just 5 minutes of rendered video. My system is a Dell desktop with 2.80 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and windows XP service pack 3. What can I do to change this? I just purchased 4 GB of RAM and a new Graphics Card, I haven't received it yet to install, but I hope this helps. Anything else I could do? Thanks
Render time depends on the system (CPU, memory, disk setup, etc.) and the source material and codec, project settings and export settings.
If you supply these data in detail, we might tell you what is wrong.
I can tell you this much the graphics card will not help any with rendering time. I will make a wild guess based on the OS and installed memory and figure that you might have a Pentium 4 single core processor. Take a look at the my very old Premiere 2.0 Benchmark results page and you will see very near the bottom of that page the results of a few single core Pentium 4 processors. Of course unless you change operating systems to a newer 64-bit version just adding that memory will not be useful. If you have planned on removing the old memory and installing the new 4 GB it might help slightly. What you apparently desperately need is a new current generation CPU which really means a new computer. In the interim you might try tuning your OS and system to get rid of CPU and memory stealing processes.
