What camera are you Capturing from? What is your Project/Sequence Preset?
I also wonder if this is a Conforming issue, as you do end up with the Audio, once done. Conforming can take a bit of time, predicated on the power of one's computer, the Duration of the file and the Audio stream source.
I'm capturing from a deck.
All project settings etc are normal, pal dv widescreen but I just can't hear the tape as it's being payed.
The comp is a brand new G5, so power wise it's up to spec.
I sorted it.
In the capture settings menu, you click onto the audio preferences and on the panel 'speaker', you simply change to 'on', whilst recording and sound will play.
However every time you close the capture window, that setting will default to 'off', so that the internal mic doesn't cause reverb.
Glad that you got it sorted, and thanks for reporting.
