I generally use a Sony HDR FX1 camera using Mini DV tapes at 25fps in high definition. I capture my footage using HDVSplit, which results in 1080i .m2t files that I edit in PrE 8. Especially during my vacation, I sometimes would like having a waterproof camera to safely use it for filming on the beach or by the pool, or even take it along for example a trip by cano or raft. In my search for such camera, I came across the option of a JVC Picsio GC-FM1BE HD camera + Ikelite waterproof casing. The video output of this camera is in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (.MOV). Would it be possible to combine footage from this camera with scenes shot with my Sony, perhaps after converting the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (.MOV) files (converting into 1080i .m2t)? What software could I best use to do such conversion? Or should I just look for waterproof casing for the Sony?
It would be wise to convert that AVC footage to HDV before you bring it into a project with your other HDV footage.
The FAQs to the right of this forum list some software that will do just that.
