I built a webiste. I checked all the links. They were all fine. I entered my remote FTP info and "tested" it. Everything was fine. Then, I copied all my files from my local site to my remote site, and assumed it should then work. But, when I try typing in my web address, it tells me "Forbidden 403 You don't have permission to access on this server. Additionally a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
Anyone know if I skipped a step on Dreamweaver or what could be going on?
Some things to check.
a) did you upload all your site files to the correct folder on your web server? Some hosts allocate a folder such as public_html, html_docs or similar for web pages. If unsure, check with your host.
b) did you name your home page index.html? Many hosts use index as the primary domain name page. If unsure which you should use, contact your host.
I figured out what was wrong. It was all because I capitalized the word "Index". Linux servers, which my web site it run on, require that the "index" file be written in lowercase letters.
