Works good in my case and is large enough.
Thanks! If it's good enough for you then it's good enough for me.
Just a question on the capacity. With CS4 writing more to the system HDD, unless the Environment is re-mapped, do you still find this size to work as well. In CS3 and earlier, I would not question, but with CS4 and CS5, I just wonder?
FWIW : I have installed a 300GB Velociraptor in my new system.
Thanks. That was about the size that I was looking at, and thinking of.
Are you building a new system for CS5?
I did end up going with the 300 gb.
Dont go for a Velociraptor.. HDD is not the best choice for a System HDD. A 128GB SSD should do it much better...
So go for a SSD and you will get much more speed value, than you'll ever get back, neither a better CPU or more RAM...
For loading a program, not for editing. Benchmarks have not shown any measurable performance gain, even with 4 SSD's in raid10.
Sorry, but this is not my experience...
For example, we do large print designs...
Layouts of up to 5 to 10 meters in 120dpi!
Loading an image of more then 600-700 MB (we worked with images of more than 1 GB) is much much faster
with SSD Raid than with single HDD or HDD Raid...
Also Indesign workflow of large catalog Files with hundrets of Pictures loaded is outstanding with SSD Raid...
This gives us a big improve in workflow and it is timesaving too...
Also the process of Videoedeting and the copy of large video-files is out of this world...
I can say that buying the SSD Disks and bring them together in RAID is the best improve of Speed i got in my workflow,
since i am a graphic designer...
By the way: RAID10 for 4 SSDs does not make any sense!
For that we have RAID0 for our 4 SSDs.
