ASUS P6T7 WS - SAS vs. SATA for RAID-0 / boot

    joe bloe premiere Level 5

I am trying to determine the optimum HD configuration to best utilize
the 2x SAS and 6x SATA connections on the P6T7 motherboard.
I intend to fill all 12 available 3.5" bays in the Lian Li  PC-A77F, and would like
to control all 12 SATA devices from the MB without the use of an add-on card.

      1. Is it efficient to use a SAS-SATA 4x fanout cable to configure a
four-disk SATA RAID-0 on a single SAS channel?

      2. Is it efficient to use a SAS-SATA 4x fanout cable to connect a single
SATA boot drive + 2 optical drives + 1 data drive on a single SAS channel?
(I realize boot will have to be BIOS configured via the Marvell SAS host utility)

      3. Should I stick to a "one channel-one device" plan and use an add-on controller
for the remaining four SATA  device bays?

      4. If the answer to "3 is yes, what is the best use of the 2x SAS channels if all
devices are SATA? (boot drive. optical media, or simply a single SATA drive)

      thanks
