1. Re: CS4 not letting me target which track to paste clips into!
Christian Jolly Apr 22, 2010 5:20 AM (in response to Luke Flegg)I see you're pasting from one sequence to another. Not that it should make a difference, but have you tried the same operation in the same sequence? I'm just trying to see if you are COMPLETELY unable to paste to a targeted track or if the issue has something to do with the separate sequences.
Try that in the same sequence and let me know. If you CAN get it to work properly in the one sequence, you could then try the copy/paste operation in the 2nd sequence and see if it maintains the same track between sequences (kind of a sloppy workaround, yes).
I do seem to recall that the first update after CS4 came out resolved an issue similar to this, if not this very issue. Not sure why you can't get the updates to work. If you created a project with say CS4 v4.1 and try to open it in a fresh install (v4.0) then you would almost certainly have major problems, but projects created in v4.0 should open fine in later updated versions. You just can't go back once you've gone forward. Again, not sure if that has something to do with your projects crashing.

Luke Flegg Apr 22, 2010 8:37 AM (in response to Christian Jolly)Thanks,
It makes no difference if I'm copying from the same sequence or another one.
There's no way I can see of workjing round except locking every track under the ones I want to paste into each time I paste anything!

3. Re: CS4 not letting me target which track to paste clips into!
Christian Jolly Apr 22, 2010 10:25 AM (in response to Luke Flegg)Hrm...yep, I really remember that being the case with 4.0. They released the 4.1 revision just about the same time CS4 shipped.
Your best bet is to find a way to update the application. After you do the update, you may want to try creating a NEW project and then IMPORTING any old projects that are not working.

Luke Flegg Apr 22, 2010 10:46 AM (in response to Christian Jolly)Thanks Christian, I've tried importing the problem project (which currently I'm happily working on in non-updated Premiere) with no success.
In fact about 3 hours on the phone to tech support hasn't found me any solution other than not updating.
