an email account wouldn't be created in flash. in your situation, it would be created on your client's server.
an email account would consist of an address (email@example.com), access to an email script that would allow your client to send email and storage that would store emails sent to your client.
I think he means sending out different e-mail forms 'k'.
If so, you can create one base file that does nothing more than error check the variables sent by Flash and then sends the e-mail. The rest of it would be done using LoadVars or URLVariables depending on your version of Flash and AS.
you are right. I created several email links on a contact page. I want to know what is required on my behalf to ensure those links work.
It will depend on how you want your online users to interact with your system. You can simple call to open up thier email program with getURL, but if you are creating a 'contact form' where you're gathering the users info and maybe a comments input box or somthing and then sending it to the appropriate recipient, then you'll need to use a server-side php like SymTsb has indicated above. Which are you planning?
just to have the option, i would like to know both ways if you don't mind explaining them to me. For the get URL version all I would have to do is place the actionscript on the link? Example firstname.lastname@example.org.
I want to send over my clients website so that you can check out the email links in which i am referring but the file size is to big to send through yahoo. Is there another way for me to post it so that you can look at it? i want to post the fla so that you can download it.
The getURL method is easy enough, but all it will do is open the clients default mail program and enter the recipient address, the call for this would be:
The other methods are much more complex, but I'd be happy to help. You gather the needed variables, then send them to a php doc using LoadVars, and the php will then parse the variables, fill in the fields and send the email. Here is a basic example with both the FLA and PHP files, the PHP file must be mounted on your server to function properly, and you must change the domain addresses and info in both files: FILES
You can post a FLA file link here. first zip the file, upload it to your server, then use the 'Reply' window here, and add a link to the files address.
