When you develop locally apache/mysql/php everything is relatively fast. Images load up right away, database queries come back right away etc..etc..
Is there any way to simulate network conditions, like limit network speeds to say 100kb/s - 200kb/s etc.. to get a somewhat real sense of what a user would experience on a live server.
ServiceCapture has a feature to simulate bandwidth. I find it works okay. Nothing really beats a proper staging environment which mimics your production environment though.
Have to agree with Adrian, simulated bandwidth is way to clean to convey true server connectivity, I find a cheap host on the otherside of the planet is always the best way. One thing I do occasionally do is use a mobile broadband connection on my laptop and that way I can see what happens when the server isn't placed in a highspeed environment.
Nice, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
