1. Re: Can ACR 5.7 read lens corrections? Or will 5.8?
MadManChan2000 May 3, 2010 7:38 AM (in response to SimonTindemans)Hi Simon,
No, neither Camera Raw 5.x nor Lightroom 2.x will be able to process the recently-previewed lens corrections.

SimonTindemans May 3, 2010 7:58 AM (in response to MadManChan2000)Hi Eric,
That's a shame. Based on ACR4.6's support for rendering Lightroom 2 files I had hoped that something similar would apply. Especially since the underlying architecture (DNG opcodes, I guess) seems to already be implemented in ACR 5.7.
Besides that, the corrections look great and I'm looking forward to using them in LR3 (I'll probably skip PS CS5).

3. Re: Can ACR 5.7 read lens corrections? Or will 5.8?
MadManChan2000 May 3, 2010 11:14 AM (in response to SimonTindemans)Agreed Simon. Things are a little different this time around, because CS5 with Camera Raw 6 has already shipped (i.e., before LR 3). Development on Camera Raw 5 has therefore ended.
Maker-based lens corrections (or "embedded" lens corrections, if you prefer) will continue to work in Camera Raw 5.4 and later, and Lightroom 2.4 and later, via the DNG 1.3 opcode mechanism that you mentioned.

SimonTindemans May 3, 2010 11:37 AM (in response to MadManChan2000)Thanks for the explanation. Not quite what I'd hoped to hear, but understandable nevertheless.
Simon
