Is the problem only with verdana? What if you set fontWeight="bold"?
Setting "fontWeight" to bold in @font-face resolves the problem
Flex HarUI and JabbyPandaUA, thanks for the response but the suggestion didn't work for me. If I set the "fontWeight" to bold in @font-face, the player uses the system font to display the text, as the new image attached shows. And if I set "fontWeight" to bold in @font-face and set fontWeight="bold" in s:RichText, I get the same result as my original post.
Do let me know if you did anything differently. Did you embed verdanab.ttf file that comes with Windows?
If you set "fontWeight" property to bold in @font-face declaration, then you will have also to set "fontWeight" property to bold on text components that uses this embedded font to display text.
Back to your original question, you can either set cffHinting="none" on RichText component or use bigger font (>=18px) to display the text.
<s:RichText fontFamily="verdanaBoldEmbedded" fontSize="14" fontWeight="bold" cffHinting="none" color="0xff0000" text="Content types: Video, Audio, Animation and Image!"> </s:RichText>
Thanks JabbyPandaUA, that did the trick!
