I read that flash player 10.1 will support adaptive http streaming. I am planning out a project that will benefit from this by segmenting a video into lots of short clips like nbc did for their silverlight player during the olympics. Is the osmf a good choice to build a player that takes a master smil file of video segment urls and then seamlessly plays them back?
You can learn more about Flash 10.1's HTTP streaming support in the prerelease program here:
What you're describing is in some ways similar to the Flash implementation, although SMIL isn't the format used.
Thanks. I just signed up. I couldn't figure out where to go for more information.
Any idea if they are still allowing people to join the prerelease? I still have not been accepted. =(
