When you say "Share to a directory," do you mean Burn to Folder for a DVD Project?
Yes - Burn to Folder for a DVD Project. I have two hard drives. C has >11gig free and D has approx 350 gig free. I have just changed the burn directory to D drive adn it is currenty 34% thru. It previously has gone to around 96% before stopping with the error message.
Bill, I hope you get give me some solutions.
Bill - again the build has failed. "Your files are currently being burned
to Folder" "Device Error - the target device isn't suitable for use"
Stopped at 98% on main bar - then 28% on the Burn bar.
I would never recommend running a C drive with less than 20 gigs of free space on it. And, even at that level, it will need to be defragmented often. 30 gigs free is better.
Also, ensure that your D drive is formatted NTFS and not FAT32, as they come from the factory. FAT32 drives have a file size limit that can stifle video production.
To see, open My Computer, right-click on each drive and select Properties.
Haako, to reinforce Steve's point I once got a low disk warning for a drive with 85GB free and defragmented. This was for a two hour project. Moving files to another drive gave me another 100GB free and PRE then burned to folder successfully.
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children
Steve - both are NTFS. I hve tried writing to the D drive - no difference. Crashed at 98% when burning to the directory at around 28% through.
Both drives have been recently defragmented.
One thing I have norticed - when I render the files - the red line does not change to green.
Thank you fr your inputs.
Thanks Neale -
Using the D drive which has around 350gig free - still crashes.
Can you try burning a smaller project, just as a test?
Also, there are a number of places where PE writes temporary files, and some of those files are quite large. The locations of these files are specified in the preferences dialog. Make sure there is plenty of space in each one - redefine them to point to other locations, if necessary.
Ed - I removed a "STOP" marker at the end of the project as per Erwin's suggestion (another discussion) and the problem is solved. Everything now works okay.
Many thanks for your inputs.
