Yes. SL no longer supports type/creator codes. Much written about this everywhere:
Wow, thanks for those links. I can't believe Adobe would do something this lame.
There are other things I don't like about Snow Leopard. I will post separately.

Ummm... I think you can give Apple full credit for this one.
Duh. I meant Apple. I posted this on the Adobe site too.
Hey, sorry about getting Apple and Adobe so confused!
So here I am having a problem with Snow Leopard that is really impacting my use of CS3. My computer is running much slower as well as the problems stated in my original post of converting files.
You had given me some links, which I checked out. I went to the Apple forum, explained my problems, and they denied that Snow Leopard had anything to do with it! They said it was the Adobe software! I couldn't get anything useful from them, as all they really seem to do is defend and deny. They said I now had to upgrade to CS5. Geez, it seems everything is designed just to make us have to continually buy new software, and where I work there is no budget for that.
So now I am trying to find out how to go back to Tiger without causing any more problems.
But I am wondering if other CS users have had this issue and how they solved it. Can you give me any more insights?
I just got another response from Apple.
Just so you understand, this is something Adobe is responsible for fixing, not Apple. The developer is responsible for their application(s) - in this case Illustrator from Adobe. Adobe chose not to update CS4 or earlier versions of its products for Snow Leopard. They chose instead to develop & release CS5.
Sounds like Apple expects Adobe to conform to their operating system changes, rather than to make their operating systems work with existing Adobe apps. I thought there was a better alliance here, but I guess not. I'm not really up on all this tech stuff.
So is upgrading to CS5 my only option unless I go back to Tiger?
No need to go back to Tiger, just stay with Leopard (10.5.8).
Thanks, Larry, but I never went to Leopard, Tiger was my last system.
