I'm currently planning on upgrading my system to be CS5 ready. Would appreciate it if anyone could help pinpoint any issues I may have with the following specs:
Hardware: Asus M2N 1394 Mobo, 8GB RAM (4 x 2) (limited to 4GB on current 32bit OS)
AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.60GHz
NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS
OS: Currently Vista Ultimate 32
Wanting to upgrade to Win7Ultimate 64
Current setup runs CS3 ok but needs more juice when using Premiere, After Effects. Also don't need any more excuses to upgrade to anything else from *cough* Vista.
I am an animator and rely heavily on Photoshop video layers & After Effects. I plan to purchase the CS5 Master Collection in the next few months. I've had this machine since 2007 and she's been very good, just starting to slow down and in need of a clean OS install.
Will I run into any major issues using CS5 with this setup?
If you only edit SD material, you will be OK, provided you have at least 2 but preferably 3 7200 RPM SATA disks.
If you want to edit HDV, AVCHD, DSLR or other material, NO. It is way to underpowered. About 15 times slower than a decent Intel machine.
Thank you Harm.
I'm sorted for hard drives, I have 3 SATA disks installed. Not too surprised about the advice given the machine's age... but it is workable for me.
