Just by using your video camera to shoot for hire, you may be violating the MPEG license:
Sorry to hear of your issues. As CS5 is just now shipping, I would imagine that Adobe still has a ton of work to do behind the scenes. I would like to think that they will have the root of your problem sorted out very soon.
Only licensing issue that I have ever had (no academic versions in my case) was with an upgrade for Illustrator. I had one of the first copies for the PC, but skipped several versions, before upgrading. The upgrade had a totally different S/N database, and my old S/N, something like PW-000-00-003 was not recognized. One call to Adobe C/S and in 5 mins. (including hold-time), a nice tech gave me a number to enter, and the install went perfectly. He adjusted my S/N and the registration went without a hitch. Never had that issue again with any Adobe program.
I would only hope that Adobe gets that product code sorted and quickly.
Apparently, Adobe is not allowed to do this for academic versions. They use a third-party web site which provides serial numbers. I have also ran into another issue. Since I don't have a serial number, they can't process a return. They recognize that this is an issue, and I have been told it is a priority 1 issue. Meanwhile, I wait.

I thought I was going to be able to order May 7, but now the WSU affiliated store says May 20
Oh well... that should give Adobe time to fix they made by selling before being ready to register
My son received the edu vesion of production premium today. Already had the trial installed, so we just plugged in the serial number and it took off without incident. Only have to enter number in one application and all the rest pick up on it.
>received the edu vesion
Ah... but WHICH edu version?
Was it the one that comes with a serial number, or the (lower cost) one where the buyer has to email Adobe with proof of status to receive a serial number?
As far as I know, it is the second, lower cost, version that is being discussed here... with the problem being that entering the purchase code that comes with the product (plus proof of status) is not resulting in receiving a serial number from Adobe
student and teacher edition of pruduction premium. serial numbers came with it.
The student and teacher edition was the one I ordered, and it doesn't come with a serial number. Did you get the Student and
Teacher edition WITH a serial number? If so, I'm really getting upset. Maybe they changed their distribution model after my complaint! (right!)
