While I've not used that camera, can you try just copying the footage to your hard drive and importing it that way?
When the firewire is hooked to the 64 bit Vista machine,
a drive does not mount on the My Computer, but the
Firewire connection is there.
Is the drive supposed to mount on My Computer, like it
does on a Mac, when you plug in the firewire connection?
Not having any experience with that camera, I can tell you from my experience with my Sony EX3 that I don't think you can transfer files over the firewire...could be wrong about that (someone let me know if I am), but I thought you had to do all that through the USB port. You might try that. I'm running Windows Vista 64, and I've never hooked the camera up to the computer for file transfer - I always use the slot on my laptop for the SxS cards, I and move the files to an external drive then onto my internal drive.
Is there no other way for you to get the files from that camera?
EDIT: Okay - after looking it up, it looks like you should be able to access the files through firewire with that camera...are there any special drivers or software you need to install? That may be what the problem is...I know I needed install a special driver for the SxS cards.
Hope that helps!
