It does work a lot better if you have the files remotely and on your local machine. It's also good practice to have both copies in case of backup.

I was using my site as the testing server,
i realise thats not the best idea but it's a domain
i don't intend to use anymore and thought it would
be ok for a bit of practise.
I've only really worked with html/css/script before
so didn't need a testing server before but i'm looking into
it now and finding out how and why etc.
