    New to fireworks!

    Lexalotacus
Does anyone where I can find video tutorials for making buttons in fireworks cs3? Im trying to make simple and maybe even more complex animated buttons for dreamweaver.

ANY help is always appreciated, thanks guys!

Maybe it would be best to ask on the Flash forum?

Hi there - Good question, I havent seen a tutorial in that regards, but I can see how it would help a lot of peeps out.

I created a quick sample for you here:
                http://www.fireworksguru.com/anibutton/test.htm

Note, the top button is static and the lower slice has the arrow animating as an animated symbol spanning over 3 frames.

Once you exported the up_state and over_state_ani out of Fireworks, you can then go into Dreamweaver and select Insert > Image Objects > Image Rollover. Add both the states there in the dialog, preview the button and the over state should animate.

Whats important to note is the slice in Fireworks for the over state is an "animated gif" slice type that was selected from the optimization panel.

This prompted me to dig into my misspent past and I found this on an old
backup CD :-) Very retro, dontcha think?

One of these days I'll have to re-jig this for FW.

There are files on the page but they are not immediately obvious

                      Oops!

                      http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.plc/web-content/I/1/Samples/NG27/Button_tutorial/NG27But ton1.html

For larger buttons it seemed helpful to use a higher quality image as
some of the GIFs were grainier than others.

I have a few tutorials on CMX that either supply or go into the
construction of GIF Animations and animated GIF progress bars.
Follow the link below for most of them (and a few oddballs that ended up
                        in the search).
