Are using the Sound class or netstream?
I'm using the Sound class....it seems to automatically load local sounds and
stream remote sounds, and I couldn't find any way to override that
behavior...should I be using netstream?
Check out the SoundLoaderContext object then.
That will allow you to buffer, let's say, 5 seconds and have it start playing immediately.
Whoops, guess that's not a direct link to SoundLoaderContext but if you search it, should be helpful.
Yes, I've already used the SoundLoaderContext to set the buffering to a
variety of times (as little as 100 ms)....
It seems to make no difference....the loading (which takes about 10 seconds)
seems to preempt all other system functions....including progress bars and
mouseovers....it's as if the load needs to finish before the system can do
So it seems like forcing the Sound object to stream even though it's local
would be the best course...
Is there a way to do that?
Yes, I've previously scoured the documentation for anything relating to
sound playback, including the SoundLoaderContext...that object allows
setting of the bufferTime, which I've tried, and it makes no difference...it
also allows setting of the cross-domain policy, but since there is no
cross-domain file involved, that's not relevant...
The issue is that the loading process locks the system...whereas in a
streaming model it doesn't...
So is there a way to get local sounds to stream?
