Are you on Windows? If so, open the Event Viewer, then check if you can find more information on the error (at the exact time when it happened last).

I have a brand new Dell with Windows 7 and I'm getting the same problem. It simply will not open up (latest version installed) and I cannot open a pdf at all. Latest drivers are all installed. Any solutions? I know this is a free program, but it's nearly impossible to NOT have Adobe reader functioning well on any computer these days.
Got mine fixed! Uninstall program and then go to program files and delete
the adobe folder or anything in it. reboot, re install and bingo! (thanks
to my hubby for thinking of that)
Yay!! Thanks so much. Your hubby fixed mine, too!
Your husband fixed mine too!!! I had the same problem, Dell computer, Windows 7.
Thank you SO much!!!
I am running win 7 ultimate and had the same issue.
To fix: Do a clean install by first uninstalling Reader and removing all left over files....I use Revo (freeware) in the advanced mode to accomplish this
Here is the link if you are interested,,http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
Otherwise....make sure you remove all the reader files from c:\programs(86) or programs and clean out the registry as well. Reboot and reinstall.
Fixed it right up ..., no more probs.
