We are using adobe CS4 on Wndows XP. We are having an issue with illustrator automatiaclly grouping layers and clipping the page on save.
When we save the document there are many layers, but when we reopen it its all clipped as an A4 page as one solid object, like a jpeg.
We have to unclip the whole page in order to work on it, even the stuff we dont want to unclip. So it feels like we have to start again.
Is there any way for CS4 to save the document with the clippings as it did in CS3???
Two things to look at. 1. In your Layers panel flyout. is Paste Remembers Layers checked? 2. If your clipping mask is the top object in the stack, then everything will be moved to a sublayer of that layer. Do it as a last thing and Save a Copy then undo.
