1. Re: Selecting an image in CS5
Monika Gause May 11, 2010 4:46 PM (in response to auctioneer)What kind of "image" is it? Some vectors or a placed pixel image? If the latter, maybe it was linked and the client didn't send the file. You can see it in Bridge, because an AI-file normally consists of an AI- and a PDF-part. In the PDF-part images are always embedded.

2. Re: Selecting an image in CS5
auctioneer May 11, 2010 4:55 PM (in response to Monika Gause)You are absolutely spot on.... Illustrator asked me for a linked file when I first loaded the .ai file and I really didn't understand it was the image link that was missing. I'll ask the client for the image, hopefully they have a copy.
Thanks again.

3. Re: Selecting an image in CS5
Monika Gause May 11, 2010 5:09 PM (in response to auctioneer)You needn't ask the client. You can open the Illy file in Photoshop, choose the option "Images" and there you get the embedded image.

4. Re: Selecting an image in CS5
auctioneer May 11, 2010 7:24 PM (in response to Monika Gause)I opened the .ai file in Illustrator CS3, I also have CS5 but I'm still afraid of it ;-))
Where do I see "image option". I cropped out the image I required, but I'd like to know if there was another way of getting the same or better results.
Thanks..

5. Re: Selecting an image in CS5
Wade_Zimmerman May 11, 2010 7:30 PM (in response to auctioneer)Monika is asking you to open the file in Photoshop not in Illustrator or try Acrobat.
You can then save the file in an image format like .psd or.tiff and relink or embed the image.
