2. Re: How do you remove the CS Live Button?
coachmwhite May 12, 2010 12:46 PM (in response to coachmwhite)Our company block access to it via firewall and does not want it used for security reasons.
It would be great to remove it and stop all the questions and free up the space without resorting to custom workspaces at launch
Is this certain that it can not be removed?

3. Re: How do you remove the CS Live Button?
coachmwhite May 12, 2010 1:00 PM (in response to coachmwhite)No, it is actually the presence of the button. It would stop all the questions and help requests. This is just a test rollout we are doing and this is taking up too much help desk time. The other sites have many more users. If we can deploy with no button, it would not be an issue. I'd like to disable the entire functionality of CS Live and remove it from the menu as well.
Any ideas?

7. Re: How do you remove the CS Live Button?
dorallen May 24, 2010 9:02 PM (in response to coachmwhite)You can find the same folder under "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager"
And in PS, you need to disable it under Preference->Plug-ins

cliftonmeek Sep 9, 2010 9:22 PM (in response to polyxo)This is perfect. Thanks.
Perhaps Adobe should have a little humility and, since their programming model is to run pretty much their entire set of programs as frameworks that run plugins, just make sure to give the user the easy, accessible opportunity to remove the more ridiculous items of their feature sets. I mean really, "let's put a big, grotesque button for a feature only some people will use occasionally." Seriously. -

Just note that renaming this will disable the CSLive button, as well as the following:
- Access CS Live (Window > Extensions > Access CS Live)
- Adobe BrowserLab (Window > Extensions > Adobe BrowserLab)
- Adobe ConnectNow (File > Share my Screen; Window > Extensions > Share My Screen)
- CS News and Resources (Window > Extensions > CS News and Resources)
- CS Review (File > Create New Review; Window > Extensions > CS Review)
- Resource Central (Window > Extensions > Resource Central)
- Kuler (Window > Extensions > Kuler)
It will also disrupt functionality of Adobe Drive.
Cheers!

The CS5ServiceManager and CS Live are in no way related to our licensing/activation technologies.

19. Re: How do you remove the CS Live Button?
UtahRugbyGuy Feb 2, 2012 12:50 PM (in response to dorallen)I tried following these steps, so I changed the FOLDER name to .bak at the end and it just created a new folder. Did I change the wrong thing? I looked through all the folders in the CS5.5ServiceManager folder and didn't see an actual file with that name, so I figured the folder is what needed to be changed. Can someone give me a few more hints? ...also, doing a search found 0 results. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6 (Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon)
