I guess using Automator is the easiest...
- Launch Automator
- Select "Application" as the template
- Click on "Files & Folders" in the "Actions" list
- Drag "Open Finder Items" onto the canvas on the right
- Select InDesign CS3 from the "Open with:" menu
- Save the result as an application and drag an inx file on top of it.
Works like a charm :-)
I can only use an apple dropscript (corporate rules... UGH). Do you know how to incorporate the automator task into
But an automator app is an applescript droplet, tell the techie guys in the office to read some specs about Automator...

hahaha That would go over nice -
We have a group of IDX files that we need to open, replace text, add text boxes with type, synch with data and save. My partner (the wiz he is!) has the majority of that in an applescript droplet already and I need to keep the single drag and drop work flow. There are several files to do this to - on a regular basis.
I don't know how to put the two drag n drops together - or if it is even possible. Thanks for your patience!
Well... Below is the code to create an AppleScript droplet.
With a little "luck" you can change this to suit your needs. Good luck ;-)
on open vItems
repeat with vCurrentItem in vItems
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
open file vCurrentItem
