Why would you think that the original poster was running a 32-bit system? Christopher stated that he was using 64-bit WIndows 7.
Try deleting the entire After Effects\10.0 preferences folder. Then restart. It's possible that a write to that folder was occurring when your computer died, and that may have left these crucial files in a bad state. If you delete this folder (or any files in it), then After Effects will rebuild them to the default state when you restart.
Thank You, Thank You,Thank You!
I renamed the "Adobe After Effects 10.0-x64 Prefs.txt" file, AE started right up and created a new one.
Tip - When I looked for the AppData file in C:\users\user name\ folder, I couldn't find it! Then I realized that my "show hidden files" setting was turned off in the folder options.
Thanks Again, the CS5 Production Suite is Awesome!
Where would I find that folder in Windows Explorer? I've looked all over and can't find it. I have checked Show Hidden Folders.
Well, I deleted it and it didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas?
You haven't told us anything about the problem that you're experiencing, so we can't make any suggestions about how to fix it. Also, please search and read through recent threads on this forum before asking, to see if the solutions have already been offered in other threads.
This is a new reply to an OLD question. Sorry....I just encountered the problem today trying to apply an Adobe update.
Most of the replies, even from Adobe people, say to just terminate the dynamiclinkmanager process. I hate terminating any process that I don't know what it does. Maybe the thing has important files open? What could happen if I kill it?.
In my case, I made sure to "Quit" all open Adobe applications (Br, DW, Ai, Ps, Pr, etc). After closing these programs, dynamiclinkmanager "disappeared". So I would suggest making sure there are no open Adopbe apps. If that doesn't work, then nuke the sucker :-)
