    Newbie Hyperlink Help

    nick9871
      Hello all,

I am creating an extreemly simple "help" site. One of the functions I would like is when the user clicks the external link (from Matlab Simulink) that it goes to my site's home page (with a disclaimer they must read first before using it) and then have a link on the homepage that will continue them on to view the description of the item they want to view.

      So something like this:

User clicks link for description of item (address is something like //website/pages/item.html)
IE loads and displays disclaimer page (//website/pages/home.html)
User reads disclaimer and then clicks hyperlink* that takes them to where they originally wanted to go.

*How do I create that hyperlink?

      Thanks!

What is your problem? Are you asking how to code a link?
Each of the three links are ordinary links
Matlab links to disclaimer which links to content.

The second link, the one on the main page, is not a normal link.

It is dynamic in the sense that it "gets" whatever value that the user originally clicked on.

essentialy the "home" page is a splash screen. I just cant figure out how to forward the data to that dynamic link.

Anyone have any ideas? I suppose I could create a html splash screen for each individual object page, but that would be very time consuming. Is there anyway to do this dynamically?

what server side scripting can you use on your site?
you could have the urls on the other side pass the page address as a
                parameter. http://example.com/faq.php?page=1624

faq.php displays the terms/conditions and a submit button it redirects to
                answer 1624 page.

Yes that sounds like that would work. But, again, I am no web-designer and I have no idea how to acomplish this. Right now I am using HTML and frames ha ha. Only think I know how to do.

Can anyone explain this in layman's terms?

---YOU provide an answer to the above question----

I guess I dont understand the question. This is a local web-site. It will be placed in a folder on a local hard drive. It is not being published anywhere. If anything it will be used over our intranet. We use Internet Explorer. So my "site" can support whatever format since it is just local and being opened in IE.
